Hotel BDSM
 

I came across a comment today suggesting that Hotel BDSM has recently closed. I visited there (almost by chance) a few months ago, and was very taken with it - not just with its spacious elegance, but also with the sense of it being a real household, almost a mini-community. So many delightful touches, large & small - the imaginative expression of a remarkable woman. And yet, though it was certainly very stylish, evocative & well-conceived, for some reason the words I settle on when I think back to that visit are much more sentimental: it seemed to me to be a very caring & courageous place.

Just the impressions of a passing traveller. :)

I haven't seen this news (not looked anywhere yet), but if it's true, it's a real shame. I read some very good things about it. Thanks for raising it, subtle.

On a slightly different note, this whole kind of enterprise is extremely difficult. It's probably easier to offer self-catering accommodation because it's more hands-off. Neighbours will always be an issue. More than anything though, a hotel that is themed in this way will inevitably attempt to appeal to as broad a kink market as possible, within an already limited pool. Having equipment readily at hand is tremendous, but then it's often said that some of the best play doesn't require many trimmings... if that's your thing, of course.

I don't know: there are dungeons for hire, and presumably you don't have to worry about socialising or bumping into, let's say, heavy M/s if you're more naturally an S/Mer - and that's not to judge other styles, but I know I wouldn't feel comfortable in an environment which was (hypothetically) predominantly M/f. If I want to play in a mixed environment, there are plenty of clubs out there; if I want to play in private or pay to play, these are possibilities too. There's just something about the hotel set-up that doesn't really appeal, and I honestly can't quite explain why. I think there are just too many variables. Let's face it, if you want to be kinky, you can be kinky with a bit of imagination anywhere, and in effect that would almost be a more attractive proposition precisely because of that 'naughty' factor.

On the other hand, it must be great to get your hands on big kit if you don't usually get chance. I can understand the appeal.

There's been one or two posts on other boards where people have been saying that they haven't been able to get a reply from Hotel BDSM to enquiries. A real pity if it has closed

It is interersting to think what/who the market would be for an enterprise like this. There is a lot of competition (clubs/dungeons/kinky cottages/other PDs as you say) and I just wonder if most people who stayed there would visit it more than once. It certainly doesn't broadly appeal to me but I can see a one off visit with the lady to be somewhere different could have an attraction.

I guess the economics of such a place must be incredibly difficult, and as folly point out to try and serve an already restricted market can't be easy.

It would be a shame if it is closed, I've never been but have heard many good stories. I guess to try and create anything along the "OWK" lines in the UK must be difficult both economically and practically.

I met Mistress Hellena many years ago, ironically whilst sessioning with another lady, she was in the same building and brought her slave in the room and the rest of the day proceeded to be a 2 dommes 2 slaves type day. Just from that short meeting and some conversations with her that day, I found she was incredibly ambitious and had real and admirable desires to create a fantastic venue, such as hotel BDSM.

It would be a double shame therefore if it is closing for anything other than positive reasons.

This rumour is indeed true and without naming names here I have heard this 1st hand from a particular subby of Mistress Hellena's.
