Does a Mistress need the theatre of catsuit, thigh length leather boots and whip to invoke the submissive in you or can she retain that ability wearing casual clothes, wherever she may be ?

I think it’s more to do with our total experience of her, rather than just reliance on the traditional props.

For subs who have maybe socialised with their Mistress, does she still command whatever the situation ? Or might the submissive think the rules are different now and that he should exercise some will of his own ? Perhaps, expecting some quid pro quo, after footing the bill for an expensive meal...

Gawd no - re the leather etc. I find that quite the turn off personally

On the socialising / no she doesn’t command everything but we both know and understand the underlying relationship. We’re really good friends and when we are out together or - more likely - in a group then that’s how it is. Equal footing and everyone buying drinks and/or paying for their own food

A lot of these sorts of relationships are very fluid - depending on the situation

I have made it a point of honour never to request an outfit. A mistress is not a clothes-horse.

However, sometimes an application form specifically asks for preferred attire, and here I think it would be rude not to express a preference.

There is also the possibility that a long-term mistress may actually want her slave/submissive to have a preference, choose it, and tell her why, just as ones wife may.
