1984
A long time ago when I was a kid I read 1984. Not much of it has stayed with me put one part I do remember is the torture scene at the end and the discussion of what is power. In particular that the ability to make someone suffer was the purest expression of power over them.
When I got into BDSM I quickly found my major fetishes (bondage and pain) strongly resonated with that. So in my round about way of getting there my question is, how important is suffering for you (either the giver or the taken). Is it something you need, want when you play or something to avoid. |

It's essential to me that she has the ability to inflict pain / impose punishment at her discretion. It follows from this that there must be times when she exercises this discretion and quite often our sessions can be pretty painful at times.
But it's mainly about the mental power exchange - so she doesn't have to do anything in particular. Sometimes my visits involve little or no pain at all, focusing on domestic service, foot worship etc (though even then, she tends to use a crop to give guidance - but that's her style). I don't find one type of session necessarily more fulfilling than another. It's the overall balance we achieve and the fact that I really don't know what awaits me beforehand that excites me. |

I agree about the mental power exchange. For me personally a high level of physical suffering is not essential. Moderate physical pain together with it being given by a beautiful lady in the right circumstances is more than enough. Her power of enticement and denial such as in a tie and tease scenario is just as much an element of suffering.
