Default Have no desire to even try three of them, but each to their own.

Tbf to him the B-man does actually make a fair point on this one guys.

All of those four listed activities carry known and understood risks but everyone should have the right to accept personal responsibility when taking those risks for a perceived reward. Nothing much in life is risk free, and whilst risk is well analysed and calculated the benefits are often subtle and complex and are not so obviously quantified. In the case of playing rugby these may be social interaction, friendship, support, travel, networking, opportunity, plus many more. People should be informed of the risks but allowed to take them if chosen.

Too much nanny state intervention.

Same with smoking. Ban it in enclosed public spaces to protect those who choose not to smoke but allow adults to do what the eff they like with their own bodies in the privacy of their own homes. Restrict advertising and inform people of the addictive harmful effects but after that it’s over to the individual. The law as it stands has it about right on this and so the proposed gradual outright ban on sales is an offence to liberty and freedom.

As for unprotected sex, well it’s up to the individuals how well they think they know and trust one another and how many partners they have.

For some people the risk is the reward. Naughty but nice.

Kind Regards,
Rimmer.

It is more about folk choosing to engage in these sports at an amateur or professional level and their right to do so. Furthermore if folk choose to watch and be entertained by this sport, then it is there right to do so. If it’s played at the highest level, then of course money will follow to enable players to be properly rewarded for their efforts and truncated career and for fans to be entertained.

We don’t ban freedom of choice, in progressive countries, for sporting activities that are within the law.

Chris,

You have not answered Lisal's question yet.

Are you suggesting that women should be banned from playing contact sports ? ...

We ban the promotion of harmful things like cigs. We ban drugs and bareknuckle fighting.
No one says "ahhh freedom of choice".
The fact is, these women are causing themselves huge harm for the future.

TBH I have no interest in these maladjusted, misguided women who display militant Neoliberalist ideologies. However, I strongly sympathise with their families who will end up the victims of their stupidity and ignorance. Imagine having to care for a 45 yr old women with dementia for 30 yrs... caused by her own ignorance of the risks to women in rugby.

Should women's rugby be banned? I don't really care. Just stop irresponsibly televising and brainwashing with it would be enough. And stop the NHS bailing people out for stupidity as well.

That is a decent and empathic consideration Chris, but so long as she as an adult was aware of the dangers then only her and her family need care about the consequences. We are absolved from presumed compassion if her choices were informed and freely made. It’s her life and family and so it is she who needs to worry about her relatives having to care for her.

Sad*, but nowt for us to overly concern ourselves with.

Kind Regards,
Rimmer.

* Then again she might have met her husband through rugby and the family which followed are a result of that.
