Default 2024 Guinness Women’s Six Nations thread

I thought it was better to start a separate thread for the women’s tournament this year.

It will begin on 23 March and conclude on 27 April 2024.

England have won the last five editions of the Women’s Six Nations, with France finishing as runners-up in the last four campaigns and being the only other team to push the Red Roses close over that period.

The tournament has made great strides in recent years, with all unions now contracting some players full time, increased broadcast exposure and a new title partner in Guinness.

But there are fears that the “lack of jeopardy” could prevent it attracting sponsors in the future.

I say boll*cks to that.

Five on the spin. It’s hardly the Scottish Premiership. Or the Bundesliga for that matter.

I’m looking forward to an open contest. Come on ladies do us proud.

Looking forward to this

Love rugby (both union and league) - one of my favourite sports and one that has got the “television match official” system spot on

Ashton Gate was rocking yesterday.

A record crowd outside Twickers saw England ladies score 8 tries past Wales.

Two in two now for Hannah Botterman. On her home ground as well

Well done Botts. The Red Roses are looking unstoppable.

The sad part is, they haven't the faintest idea of what damage they are doing to themselves.

I know a girl who played this. She's about 40 now, and basically crippled by it.
The men's game is damaging.
This women's version is shameful and far more damaging.
A vile attempt to peddle a Neoliberal agenda. And the biggest victims are the women themselves.
A tragic example of the modern Davos controlled Western world.

The rate of injury at the elite level is 50% lower for women than men and about equal at the lower level

Nevertheless there are other issues which need to be discussed - around concussion, specific female injuries, ACL etc

Chris

Are you suggesting that women should be banned from playing rugby?
