Well, you say that but it was Wes Streeting spinning the rumours.

Not that clever when we could easily see through Labour’s spin. The legacy media were keen to buy it though just to create some interest.

Labour were trying to deflect from their >20% poll lead failing to materialise. The vote share of these elections gave Labour a lead of around half of that, and on a low turnout where many conservative voters stopped at home.

Caveats of local elections apply of course, but it’s still nowhere near the polling narrative we were being fed.

Only England, people often vote differently in local as opposed to general, turnouts, the only by election showed a massive swing

As we saw from Mark Harper this morning pretty much all the Tories have (their own spin on a disastrous set of results) plus seeing how many times you can say "the plan"

A lot more noise coming from all sides of the discussion. None of it definitive or particularly insightful but just an attempt to ‘control the narrative’. With social-media largely replacing legacy media for all age groups that is now becoming a futile task especially since X has welcomed back free speech. People are forming their own opinions from seeing and hearing events without an imposed narrative.

The GE will likely be the back end of this year now by which time we will have a clearer answer on the Rwanda scheme for those voters who stayed at home on Thursday.

Damage limitation exercise by the tory central office, prepping the ground for the inevitable spin that will be spouted over the next few week. The high risk is they will appear as crying children.
