Have a PC about 2 or 3 yrs old running XP and have a rather irritating prob that has me baffled so any help or advice would be much apprciated!

The PC works fine but if I attempt to use the dvd/cd drive, ie put a disc in and close the tray, the computer freezes and I have to shut it down. Have tried a new drive and have changed the lead to the drive but it still does it! Also in device manager there are no conflicts or isues, it says this device is working properly!

Anyone come across this before?

Hi Fidel....i have XP and have exactly the same problem...i have a very small amount of memory(not me,the laptop!) and too many applications running at the same time freeze the screen and i have to shutdown and startup again.
Do you have other applicatons running when trying to play your dvds?

Hi thanks for the reply, I have 1.50gb of RAM and dont think much is running when I attempt to load a disc.
