UKM - Lent 2024 - UK

Lent is a religious period of fasting and repentance in the Christian calendar. Lasting for six weeks before Easter, Lent is a time for people of the Christian faith to reflect on their lives and repent for their sins. During this time, people fast and “give up” luxuries they enjoy, like chocolate, candy, or potato chips. The act of “giving something up” is in memory of Jesus. Before he died, Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights wandering in the desert, avoiding the temptation on his way. This is why Lent lasts six weeks, ending nine days before Easter on Good Friday. However, the act of “giving something up” is not mandatory during Lent - the period is more commonly a time for quiet prayer and reflection for Christians before Easter brings new life and spiritual renewal.

Let’s all do as much as possible to help those celebrating Lent shall we.

I personally have decided NOT to session during Lent. But as the weather is getting a tad better I shall be roasting a whole hog instead of the usual sausages and chicken on the BBQ…… this weekend. All welcome.

Mind you after a few glasses of Lisal’s homemade Rhubarb & Parsnip wine I’d be surprised if anyone can remember what happened.

Happy Easter everyone.

A time of rebirth, resurrection, and rejuvenation. Easter, the bringer of life along with the best month of the year.

Also a time for having a celebratory meal with friends and family.

…and the weather this year is fab up here with the daffodils looking resplendent in the sunshine !

Big meal today with family/friends…….. me cooking.

Great to see our King make a public appearance midway through his cancer treatment.

A more apposite time than Easter is not to be found.

But what of the stalwart Queen and redoubtable Princess Anne ? Always the women hold the line.
