I finally turned up fashionably late, took 4 hours of maiding to prepare Me, giggles 3 tries at getting into a skin tight rubber dress.

TG, in my experience, is much more mainstream/fashion.

You'd probably love Crimson which is a monthly club with the emphasis on play.

Different clubs offer a different "level" of play and kink, so to speak. From places like Crimson, which Mistress Susannah just pointed at, to TG or Club Rub, which are far dancier and more about the social aspect. I like the fact that these different styles exist, I don't consider myself Dommier or kinkier or purer than anyone. I like to play as much as I like to have a laugh. I love TG for this reason: I can dance and be banal and un-Mistressy, but still be in a "scene" club. I'm wary of the people who go to clubs precisely to play, more to display themselves, in my imo. A club is a club, the "seriousness" of the play there should always be taken with a pinch of salt.

ETA: I just re-read the Op and noticed you are referring to the Erotica TG after party. Well, given the nature of Erotica, it's going to attract more of a motley crew than usual, I suspect. I went to my first and last Erotica almost 10 years ago, fresh newcomer to this scene. I bought a wildly overpriced length of rope that I could have bought at B&Q for under a fiver as "special Japanese bondage rope". That's Erotica, and the people it attracts. TG is a very well known club and I suppose it was crammed this time with a very broad church of curious vanillas and newbies.

I'm not aware that TG have ever marketed themselves as a BDSM or play club. They're basically a fetish, and as others have said, a dance club: fetish understood as rubber (etc.); or as we used to say as kids, a dressing-up club. At the events I've attended the play area has been small, poorly lit and the music too loud for any kind of 'safe' public play (you'd need a safe signal rather than a safeword because you'd never hear the latter). But I've only been to a couple of gigs, and others might have been better in this regard.

There's ignorance about (or a refusal to conform to) protocol almost everywhere you go, but perhaps it's less surprising in this particular context.

Been to tg 3 times but gone as a night out and not as a bdsm experiance as that will not happen at tg, the crowd are usually young and trendy and there for the music/dance scene more than anything else and to be honest it does this well and can provide a good night out if thats what you after

I've always described TG as a 'feast for the eyes, but leave your toy bag at home'. It's not a play club and doesn't porport to be. It tends to have very little scene etiquette, but then again, it's not a scene club, it's a Fetish/dance club. That said, I would encourage people to go to TG (especially when at Mass in Brixton), at least once as it really is a voyeurs paradise, but don't expect to play there, certainly not without interruption.

There are some really good play clubs in London, and around the UK in general.

I hope you have better luck next time.

Hi - I agree with all the above. In my experience if you are a Domme Lady or sub guy by far the best club is Club Pedestal which I think strikes the perfect balance between fun & dance and serious playing/worshipping.

Only problem with Pedestal is it only happens 4 or 5 times a year but maybe that's why it stays fresh.

Anyone else visited Pedestal?
