UKM - Serious Mistresses - UK

Following a thread on IC

Tis my understanding that Serious Mistresses are not going to publish their magazine any more and are concentrating on online

The thing from the IC thread was about their "premier mistress" listings. It says on their blurb on the start page that anyone who is a premier mistress has been checked out by Dom Promotions Now as far as I am aware the way to be a premier mistress is to purchase additional advertising online. I know of some dommes who are premier mistresses who definitely have not been given the once over before being listed

It's the way of advertising, of course, but my own feeling is that they should change their wording if it is so that they don't carry out these inspections (not that I am overconvinced that an inspection by a third party is of that much value). While most experienced subs would pass this by it may affect new people to the game

A couple of caveats

I am not in any way saying that dommes who are listed as premier mistresses are not any good. I am sure many are excellent. It is the way it is presented

And, I repeat that this is my understanding - if anyone knows that Serious Mistress work differently than this then please do post here

I have nothing against Serious Mistresses at all. I think it is a good listing site. It's just the premier mistress bit that doesn't feel quite right

I am no longer listed on Serious Mistress.
I do not agree with the fact Dom promotions feel if you advertise on one site you accept they can put your details and photographs where they choose.

Usually in escort mags.

The amount of times i have had gents call me up, expecting sex and then getting stroppy when i told them that was not what i offered, then asking why i was listed if i do not offer what they wanted !

I had no prior knowledge i was in these mags until i started getting these calls and it took well over 6 months, far to many phone calls to them each month when i had been used (along with others) to fill the empty pages and a nasty argument with the owner before i thought i was eventually removed.

I was then placed in a different mag, still owned by dom promotions

The same calls went on again !

As far as i know i am not in any now but i wouldn't be surprised if i turned up again in the future.

So its not just the premier Mistress section that is flawed.

I never put a great deal of weight on the Premier Mistress listings, I always assumed it was simply the Dommes who were advertising in the physical magazine. I even had to search out the text you mentioned as I'd never noticed it before (it was included with the 'are you an adult' check that I always just click past). I agree though it should not say it if it isn't true.

I am somewhat curious to see what the effect that dropping physical publishing will have on Serious Mistresses. This as one of their distinguishing features. Without it what will they do to stand out from other listing sites.

I must admit I tend to use

ukmistressguide.co.uk or pandemos.net

I find the fact that you get a small thumbnail photo an advantage as it can give you an idea if you want to actually go to the website.

london-mistresses.com was a very good site thouh now inactive and mistresses-in-london.co.uk is asso good as their activity serch is a good feature.

DDI always seemed to be put together a bit better as a magazine but I guess it is a sign of the times that advertising in this area is moving online.

the cards in phone boxes, the contact mags are now being surpassed by listings sites.

I'm not sure what serious mistresses would have to do to stand out but to even keep pace with competition they would need to have an accessable database that provided a small picture / description before people click on the full website (a lot of us browse on smart phones these days so dont want to click on lots of links without knowing where we are going) the site wuld also need to have a mobile optiised version as well.

In adition they would need to have the ability to bring up geographic / areas of interest / expertese listings quickly and simply. (again from a personal point of view I travel a lot and have a fairly wide range of interests so like to seek out mistresses who have a penchant for whichever fetish is tickling my fancy at the time)

None of that would set them above the competition - it would if they exectued them all well however give them a good starting place - potentially with a secondary section providing a message board (similar to max / the hang) - again not revolutionary but imitating a successful feature from a rival is logical.

A news section - or an affiliate link to the likes of Hogspy would be a good addition and / or regular up to date visiting mistress news - which is typically readily available on hogspy / Eros guide / Max fisch travel section.

There is still nothing that differentiates there but perhaps if they wanted to differentiate they could set up premium listings which include a 1 or 2 minute video - does not have to be a clip or anything just a simple video / audio of a mistress talking about preferences / specialities - they would need to ensure there was a low quality version for mobile surfers and would also need to be careful that the premium cost covered the server demands but it would certainly be something i waould be interested in. - I find Dometreas dungeon tour (and Madame Fireflys which has recently been taken down) a fantastic way to get more of an idea of what the Mistress is all about - and what the premisis is like so possibly something like that?

when they launched the magazine it was fantastic - it was almost like a uk edition of ddi (though I still feel if a mistress was in ddi that was almost a quality stamp in its self) - but a4 size, fully colour and 1 mistress per page (no squinting at thumbnail black and white photos in a magazine) - its now another website which in its defence has prety up to date uk listings - I just feel the data is not presented in its most accessable format.

If they copied all of the most successful features from other sites as mentioned above they already have a well known name / brand so there would be no reason they couldnt become drive up user numbers / advertising revenues through banners etc.

I had always assumed that "premier mistresses" had paid for extra advert space.
I never for one minute believed that they had been visited or vetted by the publisher.

Someone in a previous posting, asks "who uses it?", I have used the listings on a few occassions to see what was happening in the North East, who was available etc.

I've tended to use the serious mistress site for NE mistresses since the UKM Mistress listings went.

I know that my next question might be off topic for this thread but would it be possible to reinstate the UKM mistress listings pages?

We, as mods, wouldn't mind but that is a question for the owner to answer.

There were problems with the listings on old UKM - unavilable passwords from memory - and, anything similar would need the owner's agreement and input technically

Personally, I'd love to see them back and would be happy to be part of any group responsible for keeping them up to date

I would certainly volunteer my services to assist in maintaining them, I think that an up to date listing would be beneficial.
